OSA Spotlight: UHM School and College Services
November 3, 2008
The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa School and College Services (SCS) provides information, services, and various outreach and recruitment activities for prospective students, and works with staff from high schools and community colleges worldwide to promote and encourage students to pursue higher education. Through campus visit tours, SCS offers opportunities for groups and individuals to learn more about programs and services offered at UH Mānoa. Assisting SCS at campus visits are "Student Ambassadors" who are current UH Mānoa students that offer their view of the college experience. Working together with the Office of Admissions and Records, SCS has provided services and activities at UH Mānoa for more than 15 years.
On Saturday, November 15th, SCS is hosting their premier on-campus academic event of the fall semester - "The Mānoa Experience". This event is UH Mānoa’s first-ever campus-wide open house to showcase all areas that the University offers, ranging from academic programs to campus activities. Attendees will enjoy a free-flowing program that allows them to choose where to go and what to see. Among the many activities planned for the day are:
- Academic open houses where participants can learn more about the college and the many research initiatives that the faculty and students participate in
- Campus tours by current students
- A tour of the residence halls
- Informational sessions by admissions specialists, financial aid, and the parent program
- Student Services and Activities Fair
The Mānoa Experience will be held from 8am to 2:30pm at the Stan Sherriff Center, and is free and open to all Oahu high school students from the 9th – 12th grade, their parents, educators and the public. To register go to: http://www.hawaii.edu/admrec/rsvp_manoa_experience.html. Free parking will be available in the visitor parking structure for registered participants.
