It is the responsibility of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa to prepare students to enter the workforce and become tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, community members, and responsible workers. For high school students, Mānoa offers pre-college intervention outreach programs and new student orientation programs to help ease the transition to college. Academic resources such as advising and tutoring services are offered to students. For students that want to broaden their Mānoa experience, there are learning opportunities and student success programs available.

Selecting a major can be a complicated process. Once a decision has been made, finding the proper resources on how to attain the degree, minor, or certificate should be easier.

Class, Schedules, and Academic Resources

The Mānoa general catalog is the main resource for the academic calendar, course descriptions, and information on degrees, minors, and certificates, undergraduate and graduate information.

Get Acquainted: First-Year Students

The first year at Mānoa can sometimes be intimidating for most freshman students. To help alleviate first-year anxieties, Mānoa has specific programs to help students get acquainted with the new environment.

Advising and Tutoring

Part of being a successful student is to get advice and guidance on how to plan and organize their academic career. For students seeking help with studying, individual tutoring sessions and peer study groups are offered.

Learning Opportunities and Student Success

Students interested in going beyond the Mānoa campus are encouraged to explore the study abroad or national student exchange programs. Traditional and non-traditional students that are interested in lifelong learning should inquire with the Outreach College and Senior Citizens Visitor Program.

Pre-college: Early Intervention Programs

A growing number of early intervention programs and services are available to high school students in Hawaiʻi that reinforce positive educational success. These programs recruit and prepare underrepresented high school students and provide them an opportunity to pursue a college education.
